Jake bit me...that really hurt Jake, and it's still hurting...

Jake's deciduous mandibular central incisors have finally erupted! For those of you who don't live in the land of crazy confusing dental lingo, that simply means that his first two baby teeth have come in. This morning he was chewing on my finger, and it was really, really sharp! Hopefully now that the teeth have broken through the skin it won't be quite so painful for him (or me since now I know they're there!). Here is a picture, although I don't think you can really tell unless you're looking super close. Yes, those are Jake's fingers reaching up towards the camera, he of course wanted to eat it.

This was kind of fun...6 quirky things

Alright, my friend Rachel tagged me and now I have to write 6 quirky things about myself. Here goes... :)

1. I can't call strangers. I have no idea why, but the very thought of calling the pizza or cable guy terrifies me. Joseph used to do it for me all the time, but lately he's been trying to coerce me into calling strangers so I get over this phobia. I don't think it will ever go away.

2. I celebrate my half birthday like it's my real birthday. Alright, not exactly, but I do make a pretty big deal out of it. It started when I was out in college and all my roommates celebrated their birthdays during the year, but since my birthday was in August and I would be home for the summer, we celebrated my birthday on my half birthday instead.

3. I watch the tv guide channel like it's a real show. I didn't even realize that I did this until my husband's twin brother Christopher came over to our house and he said, "Angela, we've been through all the channels at least three times, don't you know what you want to watch yet?" I had completely forgotten about the rolling channels at the bottom of the screen and was just watching the show. I watch that channel all the time now.

4. I put butter on the less toasted side of the bread. Always, always, always.

5. I always say "sunthin" instead of "something." Does that make me sound completely uneducated?

6. It takes me a ridiculous amount of time to go to the grocery store. Unless that grocery store is Aldi. The problem at the regular grocery stores is that there are too many choices. It literally took me ten minutes to choose a jar of jam once. That's why I love Aldi. Not only is it cheap, there aren't many choices, so what you see is what you get.

Well, there you have it. 6 quirky things about me, and that was kind of fun! Now these 6 people are tagged:

1. Abby Dunford
2. Eliza Dougherty
3. Megan Traynor
4. Sarah Jones
5. Mindy LeMieux
6. Carrie Matheny

Alright, ladies, I'll be watching your blogs to make sure you've listed your 6 quirks!

I never SEEN 'em so BIG!!

I was at a friend's house yesterday and she said "Angela, I really like Jake's ears, you know, the way they stick out a little bit. It's so cute!" It made me laugh and reminded me of a funny story. When we were living in Michigan there was a little four-year-old boy in our ward. He was holding Jake on the couch when he looked up at me all of the sudden and said, "Wow, he has really BIG ears!...I never SEEN 'em so BIG!" Haha, out of the mouth of babes! Sorry Jake, it looks like you got Grandpa Witt's ears. There are stories of Great-Great-Grandma Witt gluing back little Robert's ears to get them to not stick out quite so much. I just figure he'll grow into them one day. All the better to hear you with, right?!

Is it really that bad?

I've been informed of a couple of things about my blog.
#1: The blog posts are too short. My sister ragged on me about this one. I apparently was under the mistaken impression that people wouldn't want to read long boring blog posts because, let's face it, our life isn't terribly exciting. But I should have thought it through a little more since I personally love to read/stalk other people's blogs, others would probably want to do the same, eh? I'll try to make them longer and more interesting for all you blog stalkers out there! :)
#2: Not enough pictures. Sorry folks, my camera is lost. I guess it wasn't such a bad thing that it was lost because we were in need of an upgrade anyway (I promise I didn't "lose" it on purpose). We're looking on ebay for good deals on digital cameras, does anyone have any suggestions? Anyway, for those of you who are more visually inclined (as I must admit that I am) I put some family pictures up that my dad took about a month ago and some pictures that I took with our video camera. The ones taken with the video camera aren't the best quality, but they're pictures nonetheless! Enjoy!
This is where I found Jake after I had turned my back for about 2 seconds - happy as could be getting himself tangled into his toys. What a smile!

Jake is ALMOST crawling! He is getting up on all fours and rocking back and forth. He's trying to figure out how to coordinate his arms and his feet together to actually go somewhere. I know, I'm going to be in trouble when he really starts going.

Poor kid...

Jake had a hard night last night. He usually goes to bed between 6:00-6:30 and wakes up around 7:30 the next morning (although he does wake up once in between to nurse). Yesterday we put him down at night and he was up about 4-5 times just crying his brains out. We of course were confused and didn't know what was going on, but when he woke up this morning he had a stuffy nose and then later developed a fever...poor kid. I would be crying my brains out if I were him, too.

She did it!! She really pushed an 11 lbs. 5 oz. baby out of her birthing canal!!

Wow, props to my sister-in-law Abby Dunford! You are officially amazing. That's right folks, my sister-in-law, who has been pregnant for what seems like 12 months, finally gave birth to a whopping 11 lbs. 5 oz. baby. I seriously thought that Jake was humongous weighing in at 9 lbs. 1 oz. but he is a lightweight compared to this kid. His name is Isaac John Dunford, and I think it's fitting that hurricane Ike was ripping through Texas at the same time that hurricane Isaac Dunford was ripping through Abby (is that a little too graphic?). He is absolutely gorgeous and his little chubs are just adorable! We are so proud of you guys and feel so blessed to have you all happy and healthy.

Our new family blog!

Well, Joseph and I finally broke down and decided it was about time that we started a family blog. Actually, the reason that we haven't done this sooner was because (shamefully) we didn't have a family picture to post! I'm really not sure quite how to make this cool yet and entertaining for everyone who reads it, but I'll try to figure it out so it's not...you know...boring. Now that I'm home with Jake and have the internet in our new apartment, I promise I'll try to keep everyone updated on our little family.
